"...In my eyes, Nuforce has achieved the impossible. Nuforce created a lifestyle product that actually makes a lot of sense. It’s a jack of all trades...For only $99, I get a usable speaker, okay DAC, and an amp...as a whole, I can’t imagine being without it. This is a relatively short review for a product that doesn’t really need too much introduction. Seriously, if you think you’d use this, there’s absolutely no reason not to buy it. I mean, it’s cheaper than an Audio Technica M50. It may not be fantastic at anything, but the wonder of the Cube is that it really doesn’t do too much wrong. Again, it’d make a very nice gift, and with Christmas around the corner, this should definitely be something to consider. Parents, if you don’t know what to give your kids for a birthday gift or something, take a good look at this."
"The cube is a very solid built portable speaker that is designed to ingratiate with any portable device. Anything from and Iphone and Ipod, to a laptop / tablet or a Nintendo DS..."
"...Music is a universal language and, in the beach-party towns like Sao Paulo and Barcelona, can heighten your appeal with the locals. NuForce’s cube-shaped speaker is tiny, weighs less than a pound, and comes in four vibrant colors. If you have a connector, you can hook up your iPod Nano and groove to a custom soundtrack on your travels..."
"...I bought the NuForce Cube speaker as an ultra-portable speaker for outings where I would only be carrying a day-pack...the speaker's performance is outstanding! The clean, crisp sound can fill an entire room or be heard for some distance outdoors with little to no distortion even at the high end of the volume scale. I believe for the portability to sound ratio, this speaker is unparalleled..."
"…to hear the difference, you just need to play the same audio file: once from the laptop and once with the audio being plugged into the Cube from a headphone jack. You should be able to discern subtleties in the layering of music that otherwise might get smushed together, thanks to the Cube’s DAC…provide depth. Voice, be that vocals or speech, come through cleanly in all cases…
...you can drive the volume up a bit higher when the audio is coming through the DAC without distortion than when the input socket is used...Plugging headphones into the Cube, you’ll be pleasantly surprised as the circuitry being used promotes a clean response. Of course the quality of the headphones will play a part here, but it’s fair to say that the audio emitted from the headphones output is well modulated...
…combines portability and technology that makes it well suited as the external audio source for a laptop or mobile device…"
"…after 3 weeks with the Cube in my system, I can very safely say that I am very happy to have it in my setup. I can now watch YouTube videos and not have to miss much of the audio. Netflix movies are now more enjoyable and I can have music on in the background when not listening to headphones. I'm amazed how such a little unit (see below) can give such big sound…
…all I need now is my iPod Classic and the Nuforce Cube (+ my LOD) and I've got hundreds of albums at my finger tips for playing outside. Now it doesn't sound like my home theater speaker (with 6.5" woofers), but again for the size and portability that this unit offers…The bass response is quite good for a unit of this size… The mids/treble are quite clear and if you don't have much desk space (like I do) for speakers or want to take a portable speaker outside on a picnic, in the backyard or by the pool, you would be very hard pressed to find something better…
…a great little DAC/Headphone amp as well. It sounds very clean with deep taught bass, nice and full mids and very well extended treble. The imaging is quite good too…it's an all in one solution in a very small package. Power wise, it was surprisingly able to drive my HD800s to very loud levels. It did sound better than out of my laptop audio output or my iPhone/iPad directly. Given the multitude of functions that this little unit provides, good sound quality (especially for the size) and with the reasonable asking price of only $119, I think NuForce has a real winner here…"
"...It measures less than 2.5 inches in all dimensions. Picture the smallest satellite speakers you've ever seen---the Cube is likely smaller than that. It's small enough to easily fit into a laptop case, backpack, glovebox, or pretty much anywhere else you might want to store it...
...To be honest, I did not have very high hopes for the sound quality of the Cube. Although it had already surprised me with its build quality and attention to detail, I remained skeptical about just how good this tiny thing could possibly sound. Now that I've spent a lot of time with it, I admit that I was wrong. It's actually a fairly capable sounding little device, assuming ones expectations are kept to appropriate levels...
...Adding the Cube has the immediate benefit of pointing the sound more towards the ears. The result is a surprisingly clean, clear sounding presentation with a good amount of articulation. My favorite is when the reviewer supposedly has to look around for the hidden subwoofer, only to be told that there isn't one...adding respectable sound to an underperforming device, it actually works as advertised..."
"...I took a chance and I'm glad I did...The sound from the speaker is superb for the size. I wanted something tiny to fit into small bags like laptop bags and briefcases that would be great for travel. This little guy fills the bill. It will work well in hotel rooms and in the office. If you want great sound in a small package you gotta go for it...Yes, it is pricey but it sounds great and doesn't feel cheap...I love it so much I'm getting the silver one as well..."
"...This was delivered today as I was heading out to a meeting. I dropped this in my bag and took it with me to a presentation. I attached my Blue Cube to my Mac Book Air and showed a short video. Everyone sitting around the table including myself, was stunned at the sound coming from this small package. This was my first time hearing this and the sound is incredible. I have larger, heavier Bluetooth speakers that don't sound anywhere close to this..."
"...I received my new Cube Speaker about a week ago and so far, I think that it's great! Somehow you've managed to pack great sound and amazing functionality in to a tiny, little, powerful cube. Its versatility just makes it that much more desirable-Great new product!..."
...Yes, it's a bit of a niche product. Yes, I have portable speakers that sound better (but are bigger). Yes, I have usb dac/amps that sound better and are smaller. But the true test? The Cube is in my bag wherever I go. It provides music for my workplace or sitting outside for lunch, I can use it to feed other speakers or amps, and it's a (sort of) portable headphone amp which I can tuck away in my man bag (*ahem* satchel). As someone with a somewhat transient lifestyle where I'm hardly ever in one location from one hour to the next, I'm surprised just how much I use the Cube..."
"...There was some serious sound coming out of this baby, with scintillating and well-defined high frequencies, realistic, warm midrange and even a surprising amount of bass. Sure, it could use a subwoofer to accompany it, but as it is I found it pleasant to listen to, even at its highest volume..."
"...A dedicated NuForce fan, I couldn't wait to get one of these for myself when I first received an email notice from the company. It has everything I've come to cherish NuForce for: ridiculous value, over-the-top customer service, stellar performance, and supreme modern design...To sum up what this product has become for me: it's a class-leading portable speaker with emergency audiophile amenities..."
"...I'd been looking for an external speaker for my iPhone. It works well enough most of the time, but sometimes you just want a little more "oomph." When I found this, I was sold. NuForce has a good reputation, this was reasonably priced, AND it included a USB DAC. I'm not an audiophile, nor do I wish to be, but the first thing I noticed is that it sounds great, and it's plenty loud. For $119, I couldn't be happier...Actually, that's not true. If this was somehow a stand/charger for the iPhone, I'd be happier, as would I if it dispensed cookies. But for now, I'm happy with giving this five stars..."
"...behind the Cube's grille hides what may be the most serious attempt at a 1-inch full-range driver I've ever seen...a real high-fidelity system. The midrange (i.e., Pepper's alto sax) and the treble (i.e., Philly Joe Jones' snare and cymbals) sounded unbelievably clear and detailed...compare the fidelity of the Cube with the HM-101, I switched headphones to the much-more-sensitive B&W P3. With the P3 hooked in, the Cube actually sounded a little smoother than the HM-101. I got a slightly more extended and natural-sounding treble...As an extension speaker for smartphones, MP3 players, and computers, the Cube is truly superb...something you can toss into your suitcase to use as a headphone amp or extension speaker in your hotel room. Because any trip is better with good sound..."
"... NuForce Cube Speaker can make a tremendous difference in sound quality...undeniably cute yet smartly designed and looks good just about anywhere it sits. Until folks get used to seeing such a thing, the Cube is bound to attract attention...Getting so much sound from such a pint-sized package is undeniably cool, but NuForce's latest offering offers more than just cool-factor as it sounds remarkably clean and accurate...the best sounding self-powered micro-speaker we've come across yet... a unique little product that we're happy to recommend to those travelers and outdoorsy types (or anyone else for that matter) that need a compact, (it is a ) great sounding speaker solution..."
